Blessed be the fruit, yall.
Listen, we on to some Handmaid’s Tale type shit. If you’ve seen the show, you know it’s all about control, more of it. Here’s a little synopsis of what’s to come or rather, a synopsis of the book.
Society is organized by power-hungry leaders along with a new, militarized, hierarchical régime of religious fanaticism and newly created social classes, in which women are brutally subjugated. By law, women in Gilead are forced to work in very limited roles, including some as natal slaves, and they are not allowed to own property, have careers, handle money, or even read and write.

Sound familiar?
I suppose it’s best I write to my heart’s content now before it’s too late, eh?
And JojofromJerz is on the same page. Check out her Substack. In her words, are you f’ng kidding me? Unfortunately, I don’t think they are. One thing that I take away from my love of cinema and television is the message behind the art. These productions do not come from thin air. My mother says, is it art imitating life or life imitating art? Either way there are some disturbing realities among us. The turning point for me was when I discovered that nothing could surprise me anymore whether it was happening on the television or in real life.
I recently watched Immaculate with Sydney Sweeney on Hulu.
Disturbing is an understatement. The complete disregard for women as living, breathing, thinking humans is insane. I take comfort in the fact that we cannot be stopped. I’m no feminist but there’s right and wrong. We seem to take pride in continuing to get it wrong then slapping the word religion on it. There are so many false statements made in the name of religion. Where does it end?
I’ve been thinking about death lately. I have become more comfortable with what it means even though we have no proof of what happens next. It’s the only thing that is certain in this life.
Should we be mourning our loved ones as they pass away or should they be feeling sorry for leaving us behind? What is really going on in this world? Actually?
